The weather has certainly changed since we last talked. Short days and cold winds Winter is just around the corner. But wasn’t Sunday superb!! We headed out to the Wind Farm for a pre breakfast walk along the track and a visit to the beach via 400 +steps. With the off shore wind the beach was beautiful and the Surfers and fisherpeople were taking full advantage catching great waves and plenty of Salmon and Herring. We always return home from here refreshed and fired up for a big Sunday breakfast.

On the subject of food, the Sunday before we went out to the Bush Food Café out at Young Sidings for a fabulous lunch with a bunch of friends. The food and service is very good, the coffee and cake awesome, combined with amazing views a great afternoon out. We are so lucky to have this sort of alternative cafe right on our doorstep. Nb It’s BYO. Our Abbey Creek Pinot Noir was perfect with the curries.

June Birthdays

Pearl is a Birthstone for June, and for the astrological
signs of Scorpio and Cancer. It is the traditional gift for a 30th anniversary (reflecting
its historical high value); although in the modern lists Pearls are to be given for the twelfth
anniversary. Pearls are associated with the values of modesty, purity,
beauty, and happiness.

Alternate Birthstone

Moonstone, a type of feldspar named because of its uncanny resemblance to
the iridescent sheen of the moon. Varying in color from clear to blue-white
or peach, it was considered by ancient civilizations to be a sacred stone,
bestowing the wearer with great spiritual understanding. Some believed that
the Moonstone could even make a person invisible! Mined in Sri Lanka,
Brazil, India, Madagascar, and the United States, a gift of this stone is
symbolic of health and longevity.

We have a great range of Freshwater Pearls and Moonstone to choose from.

See you soon with your $20 vouchers

How you can benefit from Lay Buys

Hi Everyone,

Christmas is rocketing towards us and there are many of you out shopping for that special gift for someone close. It’s amazing how us girls when out shopping for others can always find something that we must have for ourselves. I think it is that heady feeling that Christmas seems to bring on in all of us. The weather has finally turned, holidays are close and we are reasonably cashed up, the need to spoil ourselves is never more powerful. So how do we girls capitalize on this—with Lay buy.

If and when you spot that musthave gift for yourself, you pay the lay buy deposit usually around 20% then take the lay buy card home and leave it where that special someone will see it. For most partners (usually men) this is a perfect opportunity for them to get exactly what you want for Christmas with out having to wander around unfamiliar shops getting all stressed out and boy some do get real stressed, I see them every year trying to remember what sort of things their partner likes and what they already have, unfortunately, sometimes, they get it completely wrong which can ruin their confidence for next time.

Getting the significant other to pick up and pay off your lay buy can be very productive as often the partner will be so relieved that they can get you something you want that they will splash out on an extra present of their choosing as a surprise for you on the day. That’s a win win for all.

Of course this works just as well for Birthdays and anniversaries.

Indigo’s offer an easy lay buy plan with 20% deposit and 3 months to pay off the balance

If Lay buy is not your thing you can put your selection on hold (wish list) for a couple of days and you can send that certain someone in to collect it (Same result as above)

We offer free gift wrapping for jewellery and small gifts (another job the significant other won’t have to stress about)

Melbourne and Hobart

Dining out in Melbourne is always a delightful experience and top of our list Movida, a Spanish Tapas restaurant in Hosier Lane that has not let us down in five visits. The food and wine is amazing, if you go, try for a seat at the bar for a real Spanish feel. Ezards at the Adelphi hotel is up market fine dining with great service and food, an experience which will make a big dent in the credit card. Yu U, a quirky Japanese restaurant(Tapas style) in Little Flinders street, good food but a cold clinical feel with very little atmosphere. nb very hard to find, no signs, just a black steel door with a very small name plate hidden from view. Maybe they don’t want customers? Would be more fun with a crowd.
If you like to bar hop the Berlin bar is a treat for something different. Once you find the entrance to Berlin Bar your first experience (after stairs and an image of Charlie Chaplin) is a closed door with a doorbell. Slightly confused you ring the doorbell and wait; a bartender comes down and opens the door asking how many of you there are then takes you back in time to a world of opulence or past it to a world of communism. You see much like Berlin was this bar is divided into East and West Berlin, complete with checkpoint Charlie in the middle. The contrast of obvious with leather couches and booths in West Berlin to ammunition boxes and converted bathtubs in East Berlin. This is a bar with a strong sense of place and what it is trying to be, a bar that is ‘based on the unification of a divided vision; sumptuous yet humble, Berlin is a venue split in two, as the famous city itself once was. Mistys, is a good place to kill time before dining next Door at Movida. WaltersWine Bar on South bank does great wine and food and Maze (Gordon Ramsey’s) at the Crown is a grand place to rest after a big day shopping.

On our day off we went to the Melbourne museum in Carlton to see The Titanic Exhibition which is a great show but just too many people trying to view the displays. If you wish to visit try and go early in the day before the school kids get there. After this we went to the The National Gallery of Victoria for a bit of culture to see the European Masters , a remarkable collection of masterpieces from the Städel Museum in Frankfurt, one of the finest collections in Europe.

Hobart, what a lovely city. We stayed at the Grand Mecure Hadleys the oldest continuously run hotel in Australia.
Located right on the water front Hobart is delightful place to walk around with easy access to the shopping precinct and the vibrant Salamanca Wharf district. We holed up at many of the bars(Tasie Riesling and Pinot) and restaurants in this area. Even sitting outside in 8 degrees to eat breakfast under an umbrella with electric heaters installed in it. This place is always busy but really comes alive every Saturday with the famous Salamanca Markets where you can buy just about anything.
A short trip to the top of Mt Wellington
(click to see pictures “not ours”) was cold but amazing.
We managed to squeeze in a trip to the movies to see Inception at the gold class( A nice bottle of Tassie Pinot and a plate of great wedges while watching a movie-fantastic)!. Very interesting movie may well require another look to put all the pieces together. We also went to see a Shakespeare Revue which was very clever and funny. I had no idea that I knew so much Shakespeare.
After a big afternoon sightseeing in Richmond a nice little session was had at the Lark Distillery outlet on Davey st. Lots of nice Whiskeys,Vodka and Gin to sample and their Whiskey liquor is to die for.
Last night in Hobart we ate at Mures on Victoria Wharf(just down the road) Nice restaurant right on the water specializing in seafood and very good at it too.
A six am flight out of Hobart was a bit of a bore and made for a very long day traveling home but I guess that’s what you do when you like going places.

By for now

Point of Difference

How are we different to other jewellery stores

Indigo’s Point of Difference.

At Indigo’s our products are sourced from more than 140 suppliers. Many of whom are well known International Brands and are exclusive to us in Albany. Unlike most retail stores where bulk buying for discount is the norm, all our jewellery and accessories are hand picked from our wholesalers collections either via visiting reps or (mostly) directly from the suppliers at industry fairs or from their display centers.

This way of doing business allows me total freedom to choose the best pieces from each collection. I will only purchase one of each item of jewellery, bags, scarves etc (It may come in multiple colours) I seldom reorder a sold product unless it is requested by a customer who may have seen such item on our suppliers websites, in a catalogue or featured in a fashion magazine.

Individual purchasing allows you the customer to have something unique so you can feel confident in your purchase as you are unlikely to see your carefully chosen item on anyone else when you are out and about in our beautiful city.
